I've been working on one at

http://dogbert.mndly.umn.edu/~worthen/nanci/nanci.html

However, there's not much there yet, just a few pictures someone sent
me, which turn out to be the same as at Paul's site (except for one I
attempted on our dying scanner) and local copies of the chords/tab for
some of her music, as I figure no one likes attempting to get on to
the ftp sites. Next week I'm going to start putting in some of the
article excerpts about Nanci that I've collected. Oh yeah. The tour
schedule is there also.

I've got a bunch more ideas for this page (searchable index of songs,
by title, words in song, musicians and the 'types' that were
discussed on the list earlier, and perhaps add the articles and other
information to the index) and if someone is interested in taking over
my job for a few days I'll work on it faster. :)

...brad

p.s. If anyone is still looking for a www browser, let me know
and I'll point you to a place to get one.

amen to michael's comment about nanci's smoking. for me, finding out that
she smoked (something i read in an interview years ago) was extremely cool.
and, indeed, that made her even that much more appealing to me, too. maybe
that's just because i have the same "nasty habit." but, as a writer, i know
what a good smoke can do for my creative process. and i have a great mental
picture of nanci hunkered over her guitar with a pack of marlboros as she
strums away and creates the ditties we all know and love. i've always said
that my dying wish would be to have a beer and three cigarettes (the perfect
beer/cigarette ratio) with nanci.

treeford

// I think the main thing that folks are concerned about is the
// possible deleterious effect that the smoke has on Nanci's
// voice and general health, which many of us care deeply about.
// Consider the cases of Emmylou Harris and Joni Mitchell -- two
// smokers whose voices aren't what they used to be. Fortunate-
// ly, Nanci's voice seems to be about as strong now as it's
// ever been, so perhaps hers is more resilient. And her family
// seems to be blessed with extra longevity, so maybe we should
// stop worrying and enjoy the music. - MF

Hello,
I think I heard/read Nanci say once that she hates this habit, too. She said
in a concert last summer that she used to be the "cigar police," but then
someone (I can't remember who) got her into smoking cigars.
