May 25, 2010 – Separate rooms in a restaurant for blacks and whites in Texas are in my husband’s living memory. Which freaks me out to think about. And how many accounts have we read of baseball teams, bands, or just plain travelers not being able to find a place to stay in the small-town south? That didn’t change because people became enlightened all of a sudden.

Based on my long-ago experience, and I suspect it’s more the case now, colleges would be lost without non-native English speaker TAs and entry-level instructors. Also, those folks tend to be from countries other than Mexico.

May 22, 2010 – It’s very liberating not to have the desire to see an arena show. Never really enjoyed them as a kid, and now they’re just stupid expensive. Give me a club, or a folks festival, or a coffee house any day.

May 21, 2010 – I don’t generally like “make fun of old people who don’t get technology” stories. But this did strike me softa funny. Of course the real cutting edge are the “kids” who don’t use ATMs because they’d rather buy a cup of coffee with a debit card. I guess what I’m sayin here is that the generations behind me and ahead of me are WRONG. Only I am right.
