November 15, 2010 – Amen, brother.
November 15, 2010 – I’m fascinated by the labels media affix to people who rise from some form of obscurity. “Formerly homeless” or J.K. Rowling’s “Welfare mother” come to mind. “co-ed” used to be applied to pretty white girls who got killed, and older women who do crazy shit are “grandmothers”. I sometimes wonder what simplistic label the news media might give me, should I win a million dollars, commit a crime, or write a bunch of best-sellers. I’m betting on “disabled woman” or “barren soul”.
