May 10, 2011 – “Forgotten history” from the 70s means I’m officially super old.
May 10, 2011 – I recently saw the 1994 Warren Beatty/Annette Benning remake of “Love Affair”. Its best predecessor, not even the original, is “An Affair to Remember”, with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. That movie isn’t even a favorite of mine, but all through the Beatty version, I couldn’t help thinking that the primary reason the older movie is better is the chemistry and charisma of the stars. An awful lot of what we call movie stars in the modern era are simply too tepid and self-conscious to be as entertaining as their golden age counterparts. There are a few exceptions, which I’ll think of if you give me half an hour or so.
May 10, 2011 – for some reason, this makes me kind of sad.
