  • Highland Mall Macy's closes for good
  • March 14, 2011 – The following is probably more of an emotional observation than an economic one: there is something sadly inefficient about a mall dying in one part of the city, and new, shiny development taking over another part. Similarly, there are strip malls that have been around 20 years, but which are no sad and half-empty. Are the newer strip malls any beter? How is it a good thing topave more, and make roads that go further out, leaving the older infrastructure to rot? Bring on the bulldozers and make something new, but make it here, rather than sprawling further and further out. I’m just ad because I remember when Highland Mall was shiny and new. Thank you for your indulgence.
